Mental Health

Mental health is vitally important aspect of our general health and wellness. Mental health covers everything from stress and depression as well as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic illnesses.

The type of problem will usually determine the most appropriate health professional. Sometimes, a medical approach is suitable based on the symptoms of the illness and the other issues being experienced. For other problems such as stress, a more specific psychological approach may be more suitable. This can help teach coping strategies, time management and other ways to assist in lifestyle management. It usually a very practical approach.

Sentiens provides a progressive high quality psychiatric and mental health service. General Practitioners, Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Mental Health Nurses deliver the integrated clinical services. Additionally, the multi-level day-hospital facility offers patients with case-management support services and web-based mental health programs for monitoring and treatment.

Referral

The first step to treatment at Sentiens is to see your General Practitioner. Your GP may or may not conduct a full mental health assessment. At Sentiens, you will recieve a thorough mental health assessment prior to treatment.

At this time, Sentiens provides outpatient and day-treatment services. There are some cases that more intensive inpatient treatment may be required. In these instances, Sentiens Psychiatrists have admission options to local inpatient services.

In many cases, we aim to provide a comprehensive day treatment program to avoid unnecessary hospital treatment, where the person remains in their usual surroundings, provided that the situation can be dealt with adequetly.
