PsychAssess is not for use during a mental health emergency. It is recommended that PsychAssess be used in consultation with a medical practitioner or mental health professional. It can help in an assessment in an urgent situation but not in itself provide or lead to treatment.

PsychAssess provides a thorough report, which may indicate areas of mental health risk. It is the responsibility of the person undertaking this assessment to seek appropriate treatment from their general practitioner or mental health professional if there are significant concerns following receipt of the PsychAssess report.

PsychAssess is an online mental health assessment questionnairing system that aims to increase your understanding of your current difficulties. PsychAssess is made up of questions that relate to your:

  • Symptoms;
  • General health;
  • Emotions and mood;
  • Day to day functioning;
  • Thinking and reasoning; and
  • Significant events in your life.

Will PsychAssess give me a diagnosis?

Mental health disorders are difficult and complex to diagnose. You should not take the information in the PsychAssess report as a diagnosis of mental health problems. The diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems requires a doctor or qualified mental health professional.

PsychAssess is designed to complement their work with you. None of the information on the Sentiens website is a substitute for a diagnosis and treatment by an appropriate doctor or mental health professional.

What will PsychAssess tell me?

It can help explain to you what are the most common symptoms experienced, how severe these symptoms are and how they affect you. It helps people understand the process affecting them, their background and upbringing and they feel about their health. It will not say that you have a particular illness. It helps indicate and clarify areas of problem but does not cover all areas and all problems. In particular, it does not deal with Attention Deficit Disorder, autism, and a number of rare conditions.

It helps you and your clinician discuss problems and issues and hopefully helps some people to decide to tackle their problems with their clinician. It is part of the modern philosophy of helping provide tools for people to understand themselves and partner with their clinicians.
