Services Offered

Primary Care

All aspects of General Practice including diagnosis and management of medical, surgical and gynaecological conditions. Chronic disease management and care-planning. Mental Health. Child Health.

Casualty

Suturing and dressing of wounds. Treatment of minor fractures. Removal of foreign bodies.

Sexual Problems

Integrated Sexual Health offers assessment and management of all types of sexual dysfunction with patients often referred by other GPs or specialists. Treatment is holistic with medical, psychological and lifestyle interventions

Family Planning

All aspects of contraceptive advice including pregnancy testing, fitting and removal of Implanon and Mirena devices. Investigation and counselling for infertility problems.

STI Screening

Confidential screening for sexually transmitted infection either after at-risk exposure or simply between relationships. Counselling and treatment for common STI’s. Electrodessication treatment of genital warts, (hyfrecator.)

Preventative Medicine

Well-Woman and Well-Man checks. PAP tests. Skin cancer screening. Prostate cancer screening. Child Health checks. Dietary and Lifestyle advice.

Vaccinations

All routine vaccinations including childhood, Foreign Travel, Tetanus, Hepatitis and Influenza. We are a designated Yellow Fever Vaccinations Centre.

Medical Examinations

For insurance, pre-employment, diving or as required. Simple health checks or full executive medicals including blood screening, X-Ray, ECG, and a full report.

Counselling

Counselling for personal, relationship and sexual problems. Management of depression and anxiety disorders . Mental health planning for referral to clinical psychologists.

Skin Cancer Screening and Management

Skin checks and biopsies or removal of abnormal moles and skin lumps. Dermatological surgery. cryotherapy or hyfrecator treatment of warts and sun-spots. Carried out in the clinical room.

Vasectomy

Dr Snowball performs “no-scalpel vasectomies” in the clinic. This allows quick recovery and is performed under local anaesthetic.

ECG Recording

Heart recording for diagnosis or medical examination. Performed by the practice nurse.

Spirometry

Measures respiratory function for diagnosis of chest diseases such as asthma, or for diving medicals.

Test Results

If your doctor has ordered investigations you may telephone for your results - only your doctor or the practice nurse can provide information over the phone however it may feel more appropriate for you to make another appointment. If your results are considered abnormal you will be contacted by your doctor or the practice nurse.

When you make your appointment -
please tell us if:

  • You require urgent attention;
  • Have a potentially contagious illness (so we can provide a suitable room for you);
  • Require an extended consultation (ask about our fees when booking);
  • Change your personal or contact details;
  • You feel that the services of an interpreter will be required for you or the person you are representing;
  • You do not wish to be part of our recall system for routine preventative health issues; or
  • If you would like to speak to your doctor the receptionist will put your through if he/she does not have a patient, but otherwise will take your details and ask the doctor to return your call. Providing our receptionist with information on the reason for your call will ensure that we provide you with appropriate and timely assistance.

We will tell you if:

  • The doctor is running on time (if not we will try and give you an estimate of how long you may have to wait); or
  • Your doctor intends to have a medical student or similar present during your consultation so you can provide your permission or refusal - it is your choice.

Pathology

Western Diagnostic Pathology have a collecting station in the building. They are open from 7.30am to 5.00pm daily. No appointments are necessary. Results are transmitted electronically to your doctor. Other pathology providers can be used if preferred.

X-Ray

SKG Radiology have a clinic at 30 Ord St, only a 5-minute walk away. Results are available the same day electronically.

Clinical Staff

Dr Stephen Adams (MA MBBS MRCGP DRCOG DCH)

Trained at Cambridge University & Guys Hospital qualifying in 1982; he has worked as a GP both in UK and Australia. He has extensive experience in all aspects of sexual health- teaching and lecturing regularly on the subject. He is also a level- 2 mental health provider

Dr Philip Snowball (MBBS MRCP DRCOG)

Trained at UWA and held a wide range of hospital positions and qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians prior to commencing family medical practice in 1981. He practised as a GP in Cottesloe for 25 years and has been performing vasectomies for over 20 years.

Deborah Gilbert (RGN)

Deb is our a practice nurse and runs the treatment room assisting in clinical procedures and conducting clinical tests, immunizations, dressings and wound care. Deb is also responsible for sterilizations procedures and stock control.

If you wish a longer appointment, just ask the receptionist. PLEASE tell us if you are unable to make an appointment so that it can be offered to another patient.

Accounts

Sentiens General Practice and Integrated Sexual Health are private practices. It is preferred that accounts be paid on the day of consultation. Medicare rebates can now be claimed automatically at the time of your consultation. Eftpos and credit card facilities are available.
