Fees and charges

Fees for health services can vary widely. Medicare rebates are available for many of our services. Sentiens Clinic is a private billing practice, although under certain circumstances, some clinicians may offer a discounted service.

If you would like more information about a specific service not listed here, please contact reception and hopefully we can answer your questions.

Appointments

Mental Health Clinic: 9481 1950

If you are visiting the Clinic for the first time to see your doctor or other mental health professionals, please arrive up to 30 minutes before your appointment. Otherwise 10-15 minutes is sufficient. Please arrive at least 5 mins before groups so that we can start on time. It is not fair to other group participants if we delay beginning so please be considerate and do your best to arrive on time.

Cancellations

We will accept cancellations if people can provide one to two days notice or at least 24 hours before your appointment. Generally, cancellations on the day will attract full payment for missed appointment time.

Psychology

Some health funds provide member benefits for these services under ancillary tables. If you have private health insurance, please check your policy for details about cover and rebates that may be available to you.

Medicare also covers psychological consulting when you are referred by a psychiatrist or general practitioner under a mental health plan. For more information about rebates, please give us a call or see the Medicare website.

Psychiatry

Each of the consultants operate their practice in a specific way, dealing with certain issues within their area of expertise. Fees are usually related to the duration of consultation, and these services attract Medicare Benefits. There is a gap, which does vary slightly between services.

If you have been referred to see a psychiatrist, further details will be provided to you in the mail. If you would like specifc fee schedules for you doctor, please phone reception.

Day hospital and Private Health Insurance

The day hospital relies on funding from private health insurance. It can be quite expensive to pay for this without insurance and it's actually too expensive for most people to pay without claiming. But the trouble is that many policies make it hidden as to whether or not you are actually covered properly for psychiatric care whether it is in an inpatient hospital or a day hospital service like Sentiens.

We recommend to every one of our patients that you check your policy directly with your insurance provider to establish whether you are covered for services provided at Sentiens. If your doctor and you decide that treatment in day hospital is appropriate for you, we also conduct health fund checks but it's in both our interests that you know as well, so in the future and your ongoing mental health, your may upgrade your cover to make sure you are able to access the services you need.
