Clinical Psychology

We welcome you to access a clinical psychologist at Sentiens Clinic, in Perth, Western Australia. Both of our experienced clinical psychologists work within the GP mental health plans, which enable clients to access Medicare rebates. Clinical psychologists at Sentiens Clinic offer personalised structured sessions with adults who are experiencing a wide range of mental health 
issues. These may include, amongst others:

  • depression & anxiety
  • stress & worry
  • self-esteem & confidence
  • anger management
  • traumatic experiences
  • adapting to & managing illness
  • smoking cessation
  • relationship issues
  • workplace issues
  • grief & loss

Deciding to consult a psychologist will give you the opportunity to discuss your concerns on an individual basis, with the aim to support and 
encourage you through those tough times.
Psychologists practice under a code of ethics that govern their behaviour.

Clinical Psychologists are:

  • good listeners
  • non-judgmental
  • confidential and respectful of your 
privacy
  • independent of your friends and family so they can be clear about supporting you in a way that is beneficial to you.

Format of sessions

On your initial appointment, you and your 
psychologist will discuss how treatment will work and together you will formulate a plan that:

  • clarifies your concerns
  • identifies realistic goals
  • identifies options/strategies available to achieve those goals, and
  • outlines a course of action that together with the psychologist will allow you to work towards achieving your goals

Duration of Therapy

  • consultations usually last 50 minutes
  • the number of sessions required is 
discussed with you and depends on your difficulties and what you hope to gain from your sessions

Referral Process

Generally, to see a psychologist, you require a referral from a doctor or another health 
professional to claim rebates from Medicare and Health Funds. You will need this referral to make an appointment.

We can accept referrals from:

  • psychiatrists
  • general practitioners
  • and other health professionals

If you are being treated by your general 
practitioner and are eligible for the care plan, you will need a referral to gain a rebate from medicare. Please contact us for more information if you think psychology may be of benefit to you.

Private health cover ancillary rebates are 
available for individual consultations. Please contact your particular fund for details.
